Education Chennai v/s Mumbai
The other day i was spoke with my cousin in chennai and was surprised at the humungus amount of time they spent in school (7:00 am to 3:00 pm) and then 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm is tuition time and after that home work.
No outdoor games. Is this the aim of education to overburden the students with loads of stuff and no attention given to the overall development. Where is the time to learn singing, dramatics and other extra curicular activities ?.
Young minds are being stressed to unnecessary levels.
Things were different atleast in Mumbai where school was from 7:00 am to 12:30 pm and thats it. Evening from 6:00 to 8:00 was dedicated for sports and socializing with friends. So atleast the stress levels were lower for young students except during the 10th standard which were kind of acceptable.
It is my personal opinion that young minds are like sponge and they can absorb things taught to them only upto a particular limit and beyond that they refuse. So do you think that for 6 days a week if a student is made to study from 7:00 to 3:00 will they absorb the knowledge ??
